Oregon Recipients of DECA Inc. Scholarships Announced
Congratulations are in order for the following individuals who are recipients of 2009 DECA Inc. scholarships!

DECA Inc. Scholarships
Annually $300,000 is awarded in scholarship money through the DECA Scholarship Program. The scholarships offer fall within three categories: employment scholarships, leadership scholarships and special event scholarships.  The postmarked deadline for these scholarships, with the exception of the two listed below, is Friday, February 12, 2010.  You can learn more about these scholarship opportunities here

Harry A. Applegate Scholarship
Submission Deadline: February 12, 2010

The completed Harry A. Applegate Scholarship (without the “Signature of State/Provincial Advisor”) is due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12 to Oregon DECA, 2611 Pringle Rd SE, Salem, OR, and not to DECA Inc.  After reviewing the submitted applications, the state advisor will select four applications to send onto DECA Inc. for final consideration.  Only at that time, after having selected the four applications to advance on, will the state advisor sign any of the Harry A. Applegate Scholarship applications.

Western Region DECA Scholarship
Submission Deadline: February 12, 2010

The completed Western Region DECA Scholarship (without the “DECA State Advisor” signature) is due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12 to Oregon DECA, 2611 Pringle Rd SE, Salem, OR, and not to DECA Inc.  After reviewing the submitted applications, the state advisor will select two applications to send onto DECA Inc. for final consideration.  Only at that time, after having selected the application to advance on, will the state advisor sign any of the Western Region DECA Scholarship applications.  In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must be a senior who attended the Western Region Leadership Conference 2008 in Phoenix, AZ.  This application is always available at the Western Region site: www.wrdeca.org.

Emma L. Bowen Foundation Internship & Scholarship Program
Submission Deadline: Feburary 27, 2009

The Emma L. Bowen Foundation for Minority Interests in Media is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create career opportunities in the media industry for minority youth through a program that focuses on scholastic achievement, direct work experience and professional development. If selected, each summer until you graduate from college, you will have the opportunity to work and gain valuable experience from industry professionals in your area. Not only will you earn a salary, but matching dollars will also be set aside to help pay for your college expenses.
